A Nice Weight Loss Memory

Design-a-Menu - lose weight with Medifast!

When I was working on my "too fat for" list I was reminded of a nice memory. Being an overweight guy, I have spent much of my life not being able to enjoy some of the fun times in life. One of the things I missed out on a lot was being able to enjoy roller coasters. I have definitely missed out on some trips to Six Flags and Cedar Point.

Back in 2003, I lost a lot of weight. I went to Las Vegas with a bunch of friends and family. My brother and I went on the roller coaster at the New York, New York casino. It was a fun ride, and what I remember most about it is shedding some tears when the ride was over because I was so happy that I fit in the seat and was able to ride the roller coaster. That's a nice memory. I need to create more of them.

My "Too Fat For" List

Design-a-Menu - lose weight with Medifast!

I have noticed a lot of promos for a new show called Too Fat For 15 lately, and it got me thinking. Besides being too fat for 15 back when I was 15, (I'm currently too fat for 35)what else have I been too fat for at various times in my life?

Here are a few things that come to mind: At various points in my life I've been too fat for movie theater seats, too fat for airplane seats, too fat for booths in restaurants, too fat for dating, too fat for roller coasters, and too fat for stores that don't have the words "big and tall" in them. That's just a partial list, I'm sure. It makes me sad. What a waste.

Right now I weigh about 326 pounds. The most I've ever weighed was 429 pounds, so I have hope that I can go all the way. 226 pounds sounds about right to me. But when I look at that "too fat for" list, it makes me sad.

Too Fat For 15-I Think I Was

Design-a-Menu - lose weight with Medifast!

Looking back, I think I was too fat for 15, and come to think of it, I'm too fat for 35. I'm a little disappointed because I was looking forward to checking out the tv show Too Fat For 15 on the Style network, but unfortunately I don't get the Style network. I've been seeing a lot of promos for the show lately, and it looks pretty good. Hopefully the Style network will be added to my Directv package soon.

Looking Forward to the Next Biggest Loser

Design-a-Menu - lose weight with Medifast!
I'm looking forward to the next season of The Biggest Loser. I'm not 100% sure when the next season starts, although I think it is going to be sometime in the fall. I've been a big fan of the show since it started. It's inspirational, and I love to see people who have struggled with weight issues their whole lives finally lose the weight. Although my weight loss hasn't been as fast as the contestants on The Biggest Loser, I hope to join the contestants as another weight loss success story in the near future.

How I Lost 30 Pounds in 3 Weeks

Design-a-Menu - lose weight with Medifast!
I have been overweight since I was 9 or 10 years old. I have tried just about every diet out there, as I can guess you probably have as well. I think what lead me to Medifast is you just eat the food that they provide, plus one "lean and green" meal that falls within certain guidelines. I like that idea because it takes the thinking and temptation out of eating. By that I mean that I have always had a hard time just having 1 slice of pizza, or 1 cheeseburger. It's easier for me to have no pizza or cheeseburgers at all.

I had a successful experience with Medifast where I lost 30 pounds in 3 weeks. I started out weighing 388 pounds and three weeks later I weighed 358 pounds. I have read a lot of testimonials where people have lost 20 pounds in their first month, and I think I probably lost those 30 pounds because I was so big to begin with.

I guess the most important factor in helping me lose those 30 pounds was that I was mentally ready to do it. I gave myself a few days to adjust to Medifast and after a few days, my food cravings went almost to zero.

I kept a diary of everything I ate during the first week of this weight loss. Click here to read it. It's funny that as I write this I'm smiling because I'm remembering how I felt after I weighed myself after the first week. I lost 19 pounds that first week, going from 388 pounds to 369 pounds in 1 week! Before I started Medifast, I was probably eating 3 or 4 times more calories than I needed, so after I started Medifast my body had no choice but to let go of some of that excess fat!

I weighed myself this morning, and I weighed-in at 334 pounds. During the time since I lost those 30 pounds, I have kind of been off and on Medifast. Sometimes I have been on the 5 & 1 plan, sometimes I have just had a Medifast shake as a mid-day snack, and some days I don't eat any Medifast meals at all. I still have a lot of weight to lose, but luckily I'm nowhere near 388 pounds anymore. If I could do it all over again, I would have just stayed on the Medifast 5 & 1 plan until I lost all the weight I needed to lose. But as you may know, dieting isn't easy, and you don't always lose the weight in a nice smooth downward path. If you've taken the time to read this, thank you. And if you're in the process of losing weight, or trying to lose weight, good luck! We'll get there!

Medifast Week One-16 Pounds Lost!

Medifast Official Site
Last Wednesday when I started Medifast I weighed 351 pounds. This morning, one week since I started Medifast I weighed 335 pounds. I lost 16 pounds this week!

I don't think I've seen 335 pounds since some time in 2007. For the first time in a long time I think that I am going to be able to reach the 300 pound mark. I don't think I've weighed less than 300 pounds since late 2006 or early 2007.

It wasn't long ago that I felt like I would never weigh less than 300 pounds again. Now I feel like the achievement of weighing less than 300 pounds is right around the corner!

Tomorrow is the Big Day!

By tomorrow I will have completed one week of Medifast. I am going to weigh myself and report the results here. Last Wednesday I weighed 351 pounds. Today I weighed 336 pounds! I have lost 15 pounds in 6 days!

After tomorrow I am not going to weigh myself so often, but I knew this week was going to be a great week of weight loss for me, so I couldn't resist getting on the scale.

Come back tomorrow and see how much weight I lost during week one.
