Have You Been Watching The Biggest Loser?

Design-a-Menu - lose weight with Medifast!

I have been watching the latest season of The Biggest Loser, and so far I have yet to pick a favorite. At some point in every season I seem to identify with or sympathize with 1 or 2 of the contestants over the others, and begin to root for them. That hasn't happened yet. One thing I've noticed is that Bob and Jillian seem more intense than ever!

Is Waiting for Weight Loss Surgery Killing Tasmanians?

Design-a-Menu - lose weight with Medifast!

I came across an article at weightlosssurgerychannel.com that claims there is an up to 7 year wait for weight loss surgery in the public health care system of Australia. According to the article, several Tasmanians have died while waiting to have weight loss surgery, while those with private insurance have their surgeries within 3 weeks of their consultations. The video below, courtesy of weightlosssurgerychannel.com, explains the story.

The Biggest Loser is Back!

Design-a-Menu - lose weight with Medifast!

The Biggest Loser season 8 premieres tonight on NBC. It just occurred to me that I weigh more right now than I did when the first season of the Biggest Loser was on. At that time I had lost a lot of weight. I remember comparing my body fat loss percentage to that of the contestants on the show. I was probably at my highest weight ever in 1998 or 1999. By 2003 I was at my lowest weight since high school. I reduced my weight by 41% from the high point of the late 90s! Most of that came from a serious effort at losing weight in 2002-2003. I lost about 100 pounds during that time.

It makes me sad to think that I regained the weight I lost, and I have not successfully lost that weight over the past 3 or 4 years. Imagine the fun I had when I went to Las Vegas in 2003 after losing over 100 pounds. The seat belt fit me just fine on the plane, and I even rode the roller coaster at the New York New York hotel. Then imagine when I went back in 2008, pushing 400 pounds. I needed a seat belt extender on the airplane, and felt exhausted during the entire experience. I remember laying down in my hotel room, half asleep, while the other guys were down having fun at the pool.

Thanks to Medifast and some hard work, I have lost over 30 pounds this year, and I have kept that weight off. I am in a much more positive place now than I was back in 2008. Exercise is not difficult now, and I am more physically active at this point than I have been in the last 3 or 4 years. I have just started another attempt at the P90X workout program. I tried it back in June, and I just wasn't ready.

I'm tired of messing around with this. I am going to watch The Biggest Loser and match the contestants weight loss. They lose weight quickly, and they turn into athletes. Why can't I do the same?
