Dining Out Has Never Been So Easy!

Design-a-Menu - lose weight with Medifast!

If you read my last post, you know that I've now lost a total of 37 pounds. There was one topic that I forgot to cover in that post. I love to go out to lunch and dinner when I can. That's not always easy or wise when you need to lose weight.

Let me give you an example of some of the places I have been in the past few weeks: IHOP, Hooter's, Ponderosa, and also a local wing place. I meet a friend of mine for lunch about once a week, and go out to dinner with my cousin once a week.

Here's the best part: I didn't order food at these places. I just drank black coffee or ice tea. I had a Medifast meal or a low carb meal, before or after I went out for lunch or dinner, and was not tempted to order food at all. It has become an easy thing to do. The food that I see my friends eating doesn't even look that appetizing. I focus on the conversation and catching up with friends, and not on the food.

It's amazing what having your cravings under control can do for you. Lately I have not been hungry until 3 or 4:00 in the afternoon. I eat every day well before then, because it's still important to fuel your body throughout the day. But my hunger is so much less, and I'm able to eat so much less. And I'm not dying of hunger at 9:00 p.m every night like I used to. It's nice to have things going in the right direction again.

I've Lost 37 Pounds!

Design-a-Menu - lose weight with Medifast!

I just weighed myself this morning, and my total weight loss is now up to 37 pounds!

It's nice to be back in control again and to not feel hungry all day long. I am almost out of Medifast food, and I have started to eat a low carb breakfast and a balanced dinner. As exercise has now become a little easier, I'm going to try to step up my game with the jogging and weight lifting.

The funny thing about this weight loss so far is I feel great, but I can't really see it in the mirror yet. No one has commented to me that I look like I've lost weight yet either. I guess when you're my size it takes a little time for the weight loss to become noticeable.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy about this success. I'm seeing numbers on the scale that I haven't seen in a long time. It's been more of a gradual weight loss and in the long run that's the way to do it. I have spent many years trying to lose weight super-fast, almost starving myself and trying to exercise intensely. In the end, I usually ended up suffering through some miserable, ultra-hungry days and then binging when I couldn't take it anymore.

I'm almost 34 years old now. What if I focused on losing 1 pound a week back when I was 20 years old? How would my life be different now? I would have been thin and healthy by age 22, and full of confidence. Would I be married? Would I be a homeowner with a successful career? Right now, I'm none of those things.

There's no point to dwelling in the past, except to learn from it and not make the same mistakes again. I've lost 37 pounds so far that I will never gain back again. I am not hungry at all between meals. I am exercising again. I've been able to maintain control of my eating habits again for an extended period of time, for the first time in years.

I pulled out my old clothes again yesterday and looked at them. What an impressive wardrobe that I can't wear. You know how people laugh about having to spend money on new clothes when they've lost weight? That's one expense I don't have to worry about, because I have clothes in my closet that will fit me for the next 120 pounds that I lose. I can't wait to get into those clothes again.
