First Week Medifast Weigh-In Results!

It has been 1 week since I started Medifast. Last Monday I weighed-in at 390 pounds. I just weighed-in at...373 pounds!!

I lost 17 pounds this week! I lost 4.4% of my body weight! I am ecstatic!

I'm sure some of that loss is water loss, but so what, whatever those 17 pounds consisted of, I didn't need, and they're gone forever!

I feel great and I am extremely motivated to continue with Medifast.

It has been 1 week since I started Medifast. I am going to have my first official weigh-in in about an hour. I weighed myself a couple times last week because I couldn't wait until today. But, today, and every Monday from this point on will be the official weigh-in day. I will post the results later this morning, along with my thoughts about my first week on Medifast.

Medifast Breakfast

Today is day 6 for me on the Medifast diet plan. I just finished a Medifast breakfast consisting of Apple Cinnamon oatmeal. It was pretty good. The funny thing is I wasn't all that hungry. I have noticed that since day 2 or 3 I haven't ever really been hungry. On this plan, you're eating a Medifast meal every 2 or 3 hours. Mixed in with that is what's called a "Lean and Green" meal which consists of a lean protein and vegetables.

The other thing I've noticed is I am sleeping less and feeling better. I went to bed well after midnight last night and was up around 8:45 this morning-before my alarm clock went off. Once again, this is only day 6, but the early results say I am ecstatic that I chose Medifast!

No Beer Tonight...Just Medifast

I had the urge to have a couple beers tonight. After all, it's Friday night. But, beer is not allowed in the weight loss phase of Medifast. Losing weight is more important than beer, so I made a pot of coffee instead.

This past Monday I started the Medifast diet plan. I have posted for months about trying or thinking about trying various diets. I got to the point where I was fed up with it all, and I even made an appointment with a local hospital to enter a weight loss program there. The problem is my appointment isn't until January 8th. That's just too long to wait for me.

I ordered Medifast once before, but I just wasn't committed at the time. I am definitely committed this time. After all, I am giving up all the holiday treats and Miller Lites that I would have been consuming in the next week and a half. I ordered Medifast last week, and the box of Medifast food arrived at lunch time on Monday. I immmediately started the program.

To give everyone a little background about me at my starting point, I last had my cholesterol checked in October. It was 245. That's a high number, not a number that caused me to panic, but a number that I need to work on.

I started the Medifast diet plan on Monday morning December 17th, 2007 .I am 6 feet, 3 inches tall. I weighed in at 390 pounds. I am going to weigh myself every Monday. Today I couldn't resist, so I weighed in just to check my early progress. I weighed 376 pounds! That's a 14 pound weight loss in 4 days! Obviously there is some water weight loss in that number, but I am very excited.

I've Got Frozen Dinners in the Fridge

I've got frozen dinners in the fridge...again. Usually when I buy them and put them in the freezer I end up eating three or four at a time. What happens is I usually eat healty all day, and when dinner comes I might have some fruits and vegetables, and a Lean Cuisine. After I eat the lean cuisine I think, "that was good, I'll have another." After that, I'm not thinking anymore and I end up having three or four. I don't think that's the purpose of buying Lean Cuisines to eat for dinner. At that pace I would need to buy 30 or 40 dinners to get through a week! Oh well, I bought seven of them and plan to have one for dinner each night this week. We'll see how it goes.

Ever Tried the Miller Lite Diet?

When I started this blog, I decided that I would be honest about my weight loss efforts, struggles, and successes. It isn't going to be some story where on July 1st I weighed in at 250 pounds and July 8th I weighed in at 240 pounds or whatever. It is going to be my day to day thoughts on weight loss.

Tonight, I'm on the Miller Lite diet. I usually go on it on Friday nights. It consists of all the Miller Lite you can drink, listening to music, and forgetting about the past work week.

I Didn't Take My Alli Weight Loss Pills...Yet

Well I took one alli weight loss pill before breakfast the other day, but then I ate an unhealthy lunch. There's no point to taking alli if you're not eating healthy, so I haven't taken another since that breakfast. A few years ago Tim McGraw sang about what he was going to do in his next thirty years. He was going to eat a few more salads, drink a little lemonade, and not so many beers. Good advice Tim. I should start following that advice. Maybe then it would make more sense to incorporate the alli plan into my diet. The alli weight loss aid can be very effective, but it can't erase the calories of a Friday night of pizza and beer.

Does the Company we Keep Make us Fat?

I read an interesting article yesterday that pointed to a study that suggested that the friends and family in our lives can contribute to us being overweight. At first, I thought that made sense because I have at least one close overweight friend, and we enjoy going out to dinner quite frequently. The interesting thing about the article is it suggested that friends and family who live hundreds or thousands of miles away can still influence us in a way that contributes to us being overweight. Whatever. You want to know what makes me overweight. I eat too much. I am hungry all the time, and if I'm not hungry I still eat. And when I eat I eat high-calorie, high-fat foods. Aunt Gladys in Tucson has nothing to do with me being overweight. I have everything to do with me being overweight.

You should go for a walk every day. It's relaxing and can keep you from overeating. Anytime you have a craving, go for a 10 minute walk. You'll be amazed at what that can do for you.

Should I Join Weight Watchers?

I'm thinking of joining Weight Watchers...again. I have probably joined the program 5 or 6 times over the past 13 years. The thing about Weight Watchers is their program really works. You just have to commit yourself to it. I had some very good success with Weight Watchers. Their program didn't fail me, I failed their program. I haven't decided yet, but I just might give Weight Watchers another try.
